Tour Summary

Day 1     : Arrival and transfer to hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2     : Drive to Chitwan and start jungle activities. Overnight in Chitwan.

Day 3     : Whole day jungle activities. Overnight in Chitwan.

Day 4     : Drive from Chitwan to Jankpur. Visit Janaki Mandir and workshop of Mithila art in small village and participate in Aarati in Ganga Sagar. Overnight in Janakpur.

Day 5     : Drive from Jankapur to Koshi tappu wildlife reserve. Rafting and jungle walk to watch birds and water buffalo. Overnight in Koshi tappu.

Day 6     : Drive to Barbote. Learn Nepalese cooking with house owner and eat together. Overnight in Barbote.

Day 7     : Drive to Deurali by jeep. On the way visit Mai Pokhari. Hike from Deurali to Maimajhuwa. Overnight in Maimajhuwa.

Day 8     : 5 hours trek from Maimajhuwa to Sandakpur (3600m). Overnight in Sandakpur.

Day 9     : View of sunrise to Kanchanjungha, Makalu, Everest et Choyo. Then descend from Sandakpur to Mai Majhuwa. Overnight in Mai Majhuwa.

Day 10  : Drive to Fikkal. Lunch at Barbote. Overnight in Fikkal.

Day 11  : Drive from Fikkal to Chandigarh. Then flight back to Kathmandu.  After visit Patan. Overnight in Patan.

Day 12  : Visit Bhaktapur and Baudha. Then back to Patan. Overnight in Patan.

Day 13  : Departure.

Tour Day by Day

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and drive to the Hotel. A small briefing of the program is presented. Rest of the time is free. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2

Drive to Chitwan

Today we drive for 5 hours to Chitwan. The term Chitwan made of two words Chitta “heart” and Ban denotes “forest”. Thus, heart of the forest. Because of its fertile land, a lot of people from different regions migrated to this land. Otherwise Tharu people are the indigenous people of this valley. In Chitwan, we will visit a Tharu village and cook Tharu food with a Tharu family and dine with the family. Overnight at hotel in Chitwan.
Day 3

Jungle activities

Chitwan is also known as Nepal’s first National park which is also listed in UNESCO. The park is popular for its Bengal tiger, one horn rhinoceros and gharial. Ornithological visits are also renown in this park because the park is an inhabitant for more than 500 species of birds. The whole day we do jungle activities. In the morning, we do canoe, then jungle walk for an hour and return back to the lodge. Afternoon we go for game drive in the park. Overnight in Chitwan.
Day 4

Drive from Chitwan to Janakpur

After breakfast we drive for 5 hours to Janakpur, the birth place of Sita who is one of the protagonists of Hindu epic Ramayana. The city is the capital of Mithila which is known for its art in Nepal and India. We visit the Janaki Mandir that was constructed in 1910 CE by Vrisha Bhanu, the queen of Tikamgarh. The construction of temple is influenced by Mughal architecture. We also visit the small village where women are empowered to enrich their culture by producing different commodities involving their own arts, Mithila or Madhubani art. Evening we participate in the aarati ceremony in Ganga Sagar, a holy pond. Overnight in Janakpur.
Day 5

Drive Janakpur to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

In the morning we have free time to go to the Temple to observe morning ceremony in the temple when a lot of devotees come to venerate the Idols of the temples. Then after breakfast we make our way to Koshi Tappu reserve. The reserve is established in 1976 occupying 175km² of wetlands. The reserve is well known for the protection of wild water buffalo (Bubalus arnee) equally the reserve is a home for 526 spices of birds. Here we do a raft to watch bird and wild water buffalo and do jungle walk to observe more birds. Overnight in Koshi tappu.
Day 6

Drive Koshi Tappu to Barbote

After 5 hours of route we will arrive in Ilam. We visit this small town known for its tea garden. Then drive to Barbote, a small village in the region of Kirat and Rai people. Here we sojourn in homestay. We learn cooking with the owner of the house and eat together to have a feeling of local culture. Overnight in Barbote.
Day 7

Barbote to Deurali by jeep then Maimajhuwa (1900m) by foot

We drive for 1 hour to go to Mai pokhari, a small lake within the wetland of Ilam district. This is also a holy site for Hindu and Buddhist people. We do a round of this lake and continue the route to Deurali. Then we start our trek for 4 hours to Maimajhuwa. On the way we stop for our lunch pack. Overnight at homestay in Maimajhuwa.
Day 8

Maimajhuwa to Sandakpur (3600m)

Today we trek for 5 hours. We start the trek from an altitude of 1900m to 3600m. So, it’s little steep for a day but the panoramic view of surrounding and the forest site and small hamlets rejoice the walk. Sandakpur is popular for a mind-blowing view of Himalayas form where we can see 4 peaks higher than 8000m (Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchenjunga). This is also a border line of Nepal and India in the east. Overnight in Sandakpur.
Day 9

Sandakpur to Maimajhuwa

Today we get up early in the morning to see the sunrise over the mountain. After breakfast we get down to Mai Majhuwa and take the same track that we have taken a day before, for descent. We have lunch in Mai Majhuwa and rest. Evening we can have camp fire and dancing with villagers.
Day 10

Drive from Maimajhuwa to Fikkal

Drive from Maimajhuwa to Barbote and have lunch, then continue drive to Fikkal. Fikkal is also a village from where the route goes to Nepal India Border then Darjeeling. The region is popular for Chhurpi (dry cheese) and tea. So many shops sell these items. A large part of land in this region is covered with tea gardens that give a beautiful landscape. Overnight at hotel in Fikkal.
Day 11

Fikkal to Chandigarh then fly back to Kathmandu and drive to Patan

After breakfast, drive 1 and half hour to Bhadrapur Airport. Then flight to Kathmandu and drive to Patan. This town is also known as the city of fine art. The city is majorly dwelled in by Buddhists. The historic part of this city was a center for Buddhist studies in the mediaeval period. The city had more than 400 monasteries at that time, of which most of them are still in service. The 17th century’s darwar square, Hiranyavarna Mahavihar (Golden Temple) are the main charm of this city. Afternoon we visit this city. Overnight in Patan.
Day 12

Bhakatpur and Baudha

Drive to Bhaktapur, a mediaeval city ornamented with wooden carving. The majority of people who live in this town are Hindu. Thus, most of the temples of this city are abode of Hindu idols. This city, like other cities of Kathmandu valley, is rich in Newa art and architecture. The imbroglio narrow alley of this town gives an impression of the medieval period. Afternoon drive to Baudha and visit the largest stupa of the country dated back to 5th century. The surrounding area of the stupa is covered with numerous Buddhist monasteries related to Himalayan Buddhism. The construction of Tibetan monasteries started from 50s and the first one is Guru Lakhang monastery just behind the Stupa. Overnight in Patan.
Day 13

Drive from Patan to airport for departure

According to the flight time we move from the hotel to the International Airport of Kathmandu 3 hours before your flight.
