Tour Summary

Day 1     : Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to a hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2     : In the early morning visit Swoyambhu and take a breakfast with devotees and afternoon visit medieval Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 3     : Visit Pashupatinath to observe Janai Purnia festival and in Patan Kunti Mahadev Jatra. And visit Patan. Overnight in Patan.

Day 4     : Visit Bhaktapur to observe Gai Jatra festival. Overnight in Bhaktapur.

Day 5     : Drive to Baudha to observe Ropain Jatra and visit. Then return back to Bhaktapur. Overnight in Bhaktapur.

Day 6     : Drive to Namo Buddha to have an experience of Buddhist monastic life. Visit holy sites too. Overnight in Thrangu Tashi Yangtse monastery in Namo Buddha.

Day 7     : Hike from Namo Buddha to Sunthan then drive to Panauti and visit. Then drive to Balthali. Participation in weeding in rice field. Overnight in Balthali.

Day 8     : Drive from Balthali to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu we join a family to learn Nepalese cooking and lunch with them. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Tour Day by Day

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu

You will be received by a representative of our company in the airport of Kathmandu. Then transfer to a hotel and a short briefing will be presented. Rest of the time is free. You can stroll around town yourself as well. Overnight in Kathmandu
Day 2

Visit Swoyambhu Stupa and medieval part of historical Kathmandu [ Brekfast with local people]

Visit Swoyambhu Stupa early in the morning. Observing the various musical religious processions in the temple. You can even perceive the religious puja ceremony in front of temples. Once our musical group arrives and plays for a moment, we get down to the bottom of the hill with them and take a Nepalese style breakfast together. After breakfast we visit the stupa tranquilly. Then we go back to the hotel and in the daytime we visit the historical center of mediaeval Nepal and its bazaar which exists since ancient times. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 3

Visit Patan and Pasupatinath temple [Festival: Janai Purnima]

Today, we leave the hotel at 9AM with our baggage and drive to Pashupatinath Temple where lots of people come to change their sacred thread. A line of Hindu priests (the Brahmans) will be in the perimeter of the temple waiting for clients. After having a tour of this site, we move forward to a hotel in Patan. This is a city of fine art and artisans. Once we arrive in this city, we leave our luggage and go for a lunch. Then we visit Kumbheswore Temple where we see the same celebration of this festival at the temple. Then we visit the Darwar Square of Patan. At crepuscule we visit Hiranyavarna Mahabihara. Overnight in Patan.
Day 4

Visit Bhaktapur [Festival : Gaijatra]

Today is the first day after the full moon. We go to Bhaktapur to explore the Gaijatra, equivalent of Carnival. The whole day is a procession of people disguised in different religious personalities and wrathful form holding tripods like wooden posts with the photos of deceased relatives. People also enjoy this festival with a stick dance during the procession. The whole medieval city is animated with diverse activities. This festival is celebrated for a week in this city. Overnight in Bhaktapur.
Day 5

Visit Baudha [Festival :Ropain Jatra]

Drive from Bhaktapur to Bauddha after a breakfast. Here we explore another carnival like procession (Ropain Jatra). Literally Ropain Jatra means the festival of planting rice, but we see a little vulgar type of procession with the presence of large number of homosexual people along with people disguised as different creatures. People also march with paper-made agricultural tools to represent the festival Ropain Jatra. In the same time, we visit also the Baudha stupa and some monasteries. Overnight in Bhaktapur.
Day 6

Visit Namo Buddha [ Experiencing lifestyle of buddhist monks]

Drive to Namo Buddha to experience life with monks. The participation in dinner and breakfast with monks and eating their same foods will help to realize the life of monks. We also join the morning prayer with monks. The monastery is situated au milieu the nature, thus we can have a 360° vista from the top of the hill. In the clear day the panoramic view of Himalaya will appear in the north side. Here we visit a holy site where according to the legend, prince Mahasatva sacrificed himself to nourish a starving tigress with her newly born five cubs. Overnight in the monastery, Namobuddha.
Day 7

Hike from Namobuddha to Sunthan and visit Panauti [ Weeding in rice field]

Today, we hike from Namo Buddha to Sunthan. It’ll take 2 hours walk down but, on the way, we can enjoy the view of the rice field in terrace. We’ll even participate in weeding for a short moment in the rice field with the villagers and have a packed lunch with them. Then drive from Sunthan to Panauti and visit this medieval town of Newa people. Then drive to Balthali, a typical brahmin thorp also popularized for its amphitheater like rice terrace. Overnight in Balthali.
Day 8

Drive from Balthali to Kathmandu [ Learning local cuisine]

After breakfast we drive to Kathmandu and go to join a family to learn the typical cuisine of Kathmandu valley. After cuisine we have lunch with the family. Then drive to hotel and rest of the time is free for shopping. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 9

Departure

According to your flight time we leave the hotel and drive to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.
